Renaissance is looking for a collaborative and detail orientated Post-Doctoral Fellow to work with our R&D team in collaboration with Dr. Laura Sly (Principal Investigator and Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, UBC). This scientific collaboration, funded by MITACS, will investigate the therapeutic potential of Renaissance’s microbially delivered siRNA platform in Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis models in mice. This role will split time between the RBSC labs located on the University of British Columbia’s main campus and the Sly lab at BC Children’s Hospital, in beautiful Vancouver, BC.
Reporting to the Principal Scientist – Discovery Group, the Post-Doctoral Fellow will be responsible for designing and conducting cell biology and murine animal model R&D experiments to advance the company’s bioactive molecule production and delivery platform technology for use in healthcare.
In addition to the specific research project, this role also provides an opportunity to spearhead in vitro and in vivo method development, including the development of a variety of cell-based assays and lead the application of this innovative technology to a murine animal model. These assays will form a key component of our growing bioactive molecule discovery pipeline. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to be involved with research that will be published in peer-reviewed scientific journals as well as in patents.

Education & Experience Required:
This is a full-time, one-year term contract, with potential for annual renewal. General workdays are 8:30 am – 5:00 pm Monday to Friday; occasional evening and/or weekend work required to meet deadlines.
This position is located within a health-care facility, therefore, the successful candidate will be required to provide verification of full vaccination against Covid-19 provided prior to the start date, as required by a provincial health mandate. All positions in the Department of Pediatrics at BC Children's Hospital require a Criminal Record Check (CRC). A pre-employment CRC is required as part of the recruitment process and any offer of employment is contingent pending positive results of the CRC.
