Position Summary

 

Renaissance is looking for an experienced, innovative, results-oriented Research Scientist – Microbial Research and Innovation to join our R&D Team. This role will be based out of our offices located on the University of British Columbia’s main campus, in beautiful Vancouver, BC. 

 

Reporting to the Principal Scientist – Microbial Research and Innovation, and as a member of the R&D team, the Research Scientist - Microbial Research and Innovation will be responsible for designing and conducting yeast strain engineering, optimization, and characterization experiments across a variety of projects to drive innovation across all the company’s different business units. The Research Scientist – Microbial Research and Innovation is expected to contribute significantly to advancing the company’s yeast strain optimization platform as well as in its biodiversity characterization program and help the company enter new research areas.

 

In addition to specific R&D projects, this role also provides an opportunity to spearhead the development of microbial cell factory R&D infrastructure, including the development of a variety of automated workflows. This research will form a key component of our biosynthesis pipeline as well as compliment our RNAi-based technology platform. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to be involved with research that will be published in peer-reviewed scientific journals as well in patents.

Position Details

 

This is a full-time, permanent role.  General workdays are 8:30 am – 5:00 pm Monday to Friday; occasional evening and/or weekend work required to meet deadlines
